Why ClearSoftware

What LIFE means

Digital World defines the protocol. ClearSoftware implements and deploys it. Members own what it holds. The four letters are the test every layer has to pass.

Living

Technology that improves real life rather than replacing it. Commerce, governance, health, communication and community, running on infrastructure people can actually hold.

Identity

Trust begins with identity. Individuals, organizations, cities and nations control their own credentials, permissions and governance rights.

Freedom

Open systems create opportunity. Participate, transact and coordinate freely, without giving up autonomy or privacy to do it.

Estate

Ownership has to extend into the digital era. Identity, assets, governance rights and inheritance, stewarded across generations.

Digital World Authorized

Founding Reference Provider

ClearSoftware is listed by Digital World as a founding reference provider and carries the Authorized mark.

Platform

How all of it fits together

Six layers, bottom to top. Read it downward and it is a supply chain. Read it upward and it is one member: keys on hardware they own, an operating system that does not report home, standards anyone can implement, and a surface with their own community's name on it. The dashed chips are where the same software runs on hardware and platforms from everyone else, because sovereignty that only works on our devices would not be sovereignty.

For people

One app for a whole life.

The LIFE app is where a member meets the stack. Life Online opens the same environment in a browser, with no install and no account issued by anyone else. Identity, vault, payments, health, estate, reputation, credentials, agreements, contacts and communications in a single surface, with every record encrypted to keys the member holds. Web and mobile are built together, never as an afterthought.

Mobile view shown. The same modules render as a full desktop console.

LIFE Vault

Key management with pre-rotation, AES-256-GCM encryption, and sharded backup across witnesses the member chooses.

Identity and credentials

Birth endorsement, education, licences, marriage, children and asset transfer, issued as ACDC credentials for a lifetime.

Payments and assets

DUSD and Digital World Chain settlement, wallet, exchange, and verified payments linked to the agreement they belong to.

Health

FHIR R4 connectors for wearables and labs, with the record held by the member rather than the provider network.

Legacy and estate

Trust instruments per asset class and the State Plus One steward model, so ownership survives the owner.

Reputation

Respect scoring built from kept agreements and verified payments, for individuals, organizations and assets.

Contacts

Wallet addresses across seven networks, with names masked until both parties are connected members.

Communications

Matrix messaging, voice and video, plus AT Protocol publishing through ClearCommunity and ClearPublisher.

ClearWEB

A browser that signs in with the member's own identity, blocks surveillance by default, and treats every site as a service the member chose rather than a host that chose them.

Digital Intelligence

ClearDI: persistent, portable intelligence that belongs to the member, works only on their private data, and acts only under authority they granted.

Digital Intelligence

Hardware

Software this serious needs hardware you own.

Keys held in software on someone else's device are not sovereign. Clear hardware puts the secure element, the node and the microphone under the member's control, and every piece speaks the same protocol as the apps.

How a deployment actually happens

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Scope and charter

Two weeks. We agree which layers you need, where they run, who governs them, and what the member of your environment is called.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Brand and provision

Domains registered, node images built, the branded app and console generated, credential schemas defined.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Pilot cohort

A bounded group of real members with real credentials and real payments, run long enough to prove the operating model rather than the demo.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Operate and hand over

ClearSoftware runs it, trains your operators, and transfers as much of the operation to you as you want to hold.

Tell us what you want to own.

Send the shape of your deployment and we will come back within two business days with a scope, a timeline and a number.

Your request

Pick a day and a time

Confirming opens the live calendar inside this page for that day so you can lock it in. Nothing is sent until you confirm there.

Services directory

Services on the fabric.

The Digital World services directory lists what a member can do today. ClearSoftware builds the reference implementation behind each one and deploys them into every branded environment, so a state, a university or a community gets the whole catalog on day one, running under its own name.

Standards and governance

Open standards, or it is not sovereign.

Every layer runs on a specification somebody else can implement. That is the test. If a member could not leave, take their identifier and their records with them, and still be verified somewhere ClearSoftware does not operate, none of this would be ownership. Where no standard existed, we wrote one and published it.

Identity and trust

Self-certifying identifiers

Identifiers the member generates from their own keys, with the next key committed in advance, so a stolen key does not become a stolen identity and no registry has to be asked for permission.

ACDC

Credentials that carry their own proof and chain of authority, verifiable without calling the issuer.

ClearID Clear standard

The ClearSoftware implementation of self-certifying identity and chained credentials: key generation, rotation, recovery and credential presentation across every Clear surface.

vLEI and GLEIF

Verifiable legal entity identifiers for organizations and the officers authorized to act for them.

KERI

The key event receipt infrastructure behind self-certifying identifiers: witnesses, watchers and pre-rotation, so identity survives key loss and needs no central registry.

W3C DID and Verifiable Credentials

The W3C decentralized identifier and verifiable credential data models, so Clear credentials read and present in the formats the wider web already understands.

DIDComm

Secure, private messaging between identifiers, so agents, people and organizations can exchange credentials and requests without a platform in the middle.

Storage

ClearSHARE Clear standard

Encrypted, erasure coded, local first storage. The member holds the keys, chooses which nodes hold the shards, and can keep every copy inside a chosen jurisdiction.

Payments and assets

ClearPAY Clear standard

Payments, wallet and settlement on the Digital World Network, tied to the member's identifier so a payment can prove which agreement it satisfied.

DUSD

The settlement asset used across Clear environments for member and treasury payments.

Records, lineage and health

UGS Clear standard

The Universal Genealogical Standard. An open, decentralized standard for genealogical records, built on record ownership and consent, semantic interoperability, and a universal genealogical tree that no single archive controls.

GEDCOM

The legacy genealogy interchange format, supported for import and export so existing family records come in without being retyped.

FHIR R4

Health records that move between providers, wearables and the member's own vault.

Communication and social

Matrix

Federated messaging, voice and video, running on a homeserver the member or the institution operates.

AT Protocol

Portable social identity and publishing, so an audience is not locked to one network.

Protocol and fabric

Digital World Digital Intelligence Clear reference implementation

The open architecture for person and organization controlled intelligence: identity binding, authority semantics, memory portability, model independence, receipts and conformance. ClearDI is its reference implementation.

LIFE Protocol

The specification the whole stack implements, published as an open commons and governed by the Digital World Open Councils.

Digital World Trust Fabric

The agreement layer between environments. It is what lets a credential issued in one jurisdiction verify in another without either side handing over control.

Privacy tools protect you inside someone else's system. Standards change whose system it is.

A privacy product

  • Identity is an account the vendor issues
  • Keys and recovery held by the provider
  • Data sits in the vendor's cloud region
  • Protection ends when the subscription ends
  • Credentials work where the vendor has partners
  • Hardware belongs to a phone maker
  • The AI model reads your data on their servers
  • Your records stop at your death

ClearSoftware on the Trust Fabric

  • Identity is an autonomic identifier you generate and rotate
  • Keys held by the member, witnessed by nodes they pick
  • Data sits in the jurisdiction the member or institution chooses
  • Ownership survives the vendor, the subscription and the company
  • Credentials verify anywhere the protocol is spoken
  • ClearPHONE, ClearBOOK, ClearBUDS and ClearNODE hold the keys
  • Agents run inside your environment on your memory
  • Estate and inheritance are part of the protocol

Specifications are published, source is open, and no edition of ClearOS has a vendor recovery path. Governance sits with the Digital World Open Councils rather than with a single company, which is what lets a state or a university adopt the fabric without adopting a dependency on us.

Become a provider

A founding reference provider. Not the only provider.

Digital World lists ClearSoftware among its founding reference providers, and the ClearCompanies carry the Authorized mark. That is a starting position, not a moat. The fabric is designed so any organization can build interoperable services against the published requirements, register as a provider, and be found by members anywhere in the network. ClearSoftware is where the reference implementations come from, and where new providers come to get integrated with ClearLIFE, Clear hardware, ClearOS and the rest of the world's services.

01

Registered Service Provider

Listed in the directory and reachable by members. The first step for any organization offering an interoperable alternative to a centralized service.

02

Authorized Service Provider

Meets the published Digital World requirements for identity, data handling and interoperability, and carries the Authorized mark.

03

Recommended Service Provider

Reviewed and recommended by the councils for members who want a provider they do not have to evaluate themselves.

Join the councils

The Digital World Council meets every Tuesday at 6:00 PM Mountain, open to everyone and recorded for the public archive. Sixteen councils cover technology, finance, health, education, legal, providers, developers and more. This is where the requirements get written.

Become a provider

Build against the published requirements, register your service, and ClearSoftware will help you integrate with ClearID, ClearPAY, the LIFE apps and the environments already live. Recognition comes from the fabric, not from us.

ClearDI

Digital Intelligence, not artificial intelligence.

This is the distinction the whole fabric turns on. Artificial intelligence connects to public data and answers to whoever runs the model. Digital Intelligence connects only to the member's private data and answers only to the member. It is not a chatbot, a model vendor or a cloud account. It is the persistent, portable relationship between a person, their identity, their memory, their authority and whichever reasoning engine they choose today. ClearDI is the reference implementation of Digital Intelligence in the Digital World.

Artificial intelligence lives here

The public world

  • Public data and the open internet
  • Public models, from any provider
  • Banks, universities, governments, merchants
  • Other people's agents and services
  • Anything the member has chosen to publish
The boundaryIdentityMandatePolicyApprovalReceipt

Digital Intelligence lives here

Your private world

  • Your identity and your keys
  • Your memory, held on your device or your node
  • LIFE Vault, health, finances, agreements, contacts
  • Your personal agents and their mandates
  • Your teams, your work, your receipts
Personal

My Digital Intelligence

Persistent intelligence that belongs to the member. Conversation, memory, life context, files, research, planning and personal agents.

Team

Our Digital Intelligence

Shared intelligence for humans and AI teammates under a charter. A family, a board, a business, a university, an agency or a community.

Work

Digital Intelligence doing work

Durable tasks that survive a restart. Plans, approvals, budgets, artifacts, run history and receipts, independent of any chat session.

PrincipalthenIdentitythenAgent identitythenMandatethenAction intentthenPolicythenHuman approvalthenExecutionthenSigned receipt

Bound to identity

Digital Intelligence binds to the member's identity and authority, not to an application login. Root and recovery keys are never exposed to the model.

Memory that outlives the model

Memory is the member's, portable and exportable. Switching providers never erases identity, memory, teams or work history.

Any model, your choice

Local models, cloud models, an organization's approved provider, or the member's own subscription. The reasoning engine is replaceable. The relationship is not.

Authority before action

Models reason. They do not decide their own authority. Every side effect passes a deterministic path, and revocation fails closed.

Receipts for everything

Every consequential action produces a signed receipt the member can read, and only minimal proof ever touches the chain. Prompts, memory and credentials never do.

Walls between contexts

Personal memory does not flow into Team. Team data does not flow to model providers. Every memory class has an owner, a sensitivity and a retention policy.

Plain definitions.

Written once, in ordinary language, so a person, a procurement officer and a machine reading this page all leave with the same meaning.

Digital Intelligence
Intelligence that connects only to a person's private data and acts only under authority that person granted, with a signed receipt for every consequential action. It is distinct from artificial intelligence, which connects to public data and answers to whoever runs the model.
LIFE
Living, Identity, Freedom, Estate. The four tests every layer of the Digital World stack has to pass.
Digital World Trust Fabric
The agreement layer between independently operated environments, so a credential issued in one jurisdiction verifies in another without either side surrendering control.
Self-certifying identifier
An identifier a person generates from their own keys, with the next key committed in advance. No registry issues it, and a stolen key does not become a stolen identity.
Environment
A branded deployment of the stack under one name and one governance, such as Utah Life or Aotearoa Life. Members of one environment remain members of the fabric.
Reference implementation
The ClearSoftware build of a published Digital World standard. Any other provider is free to implement the same standard independently and be verified against the same conformance tests.

You own you.
Start with an identity nobody issued to you.
